03. The Civil Wedding Ceremony at Standesamt Römer Frankfurt
On the wedding day, we met directly at the Römer.
After another wedding ceremony finished, we went upstairs to the waiting area where couples usually gather before their ceremony begins. These quiet moments before the ceremony often feel very special. There is excitement, anticipation, and sometimes a few nervous smiles.
I took a few photos there while they waited, documenting these small moments before the official ceremony started.
Soon it was our turn to enter the ceremony room. Like many rooms used for a civil wedding at Römer Frankfurt, the space felt intimate — similar to a large office that can comfortably host around ten to twenty guests.
The Ceremony Moments
The registrar began the ceremony, speaking about marriage and partnership while the couple listened attentively. I quietly documented the emotions that naturally appeared between them — their smiles, their eye contact, and the calm excitement of the moment.

04. Walking Out of Römer as Newlyweds
After leaving the ceremony room, we walked back downstairs and stepped outside into the lively Römerberg square.
One of my favorite moments to photograph during a civil wedding at Römer Frankfurt is when the couples walk out of the building as newlyweds. The historic square, the colorful buildings, and the open atmosphere create a beautiful setting for this moment.
Here, we also took a few family photos — including their most loyal companion, their dog. Seeing the three of them together made the moment feel incredibly genuine and joyful.
By this time, the couple had completely relaxed in front of the camera. What started as a little camera shyness gradually turned into laughter and natural interaction.

After the ceremony, we continued with a relaxed portrait session around some of Frankfurt’s most iconic locations.
We first walked through the charming streets around Römerberg, where the historic buildings create a timeless atmosphere. Then we visited the nearby Eiserner Steg (Iron Bridge), which offers one of the best views of the river Main, and the Frankfurt skyline.
One of the things I enjoy most about photographing a civil wedding at Römer Frankfurt is the variety of photo locations within walking distance. Within just a short walk, couples can have photos in historic Old Town streets, along the river, and with the modern skyline in the background.
Instead of posing them heavily, I simply guided them through the locations and allowed their natural connection to unfold. The result was a series of photos that felt relaxed, authentic, and true to their story.
